Are you interested in pursuing a career working with people with mental health conditions. IAPT (Increasing access to Psychological Therapies) and PWP (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners) are roles within the NHS that might be of interest to you. As a PWP or IAPT practitioner you'll support individuals of all ages and cultural backgrounds who are experiencing common mental health difficulties. You'll offer a range of low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based interventions that will help your clients to manage their own recovery. This talk will be delivered by Dr James Reilly who is a clinical psychologist and also an admission tutor and lecturer for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Liverpool. He will give information about the kind of work experience needed to get onto this highly competitive course with tips included about how to gain this experience. There will also be advice about the application procedure for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate and the entry requirements for the course. Other topics which will be covered include an overview of the work of a Clinical Psychologist and the training involved.
